Anet, in the Eure valley, is closely associated with Diane de Poitiers and the French Renaissance. Her château was designed by Philibert de l'Orme and embellished by artists including Jean Goujon and Léonard Limosin. The surviving ensemble includes the entrance gateway, a residential wing altered in the seventeenth century, and a chapel whose domed decoration is echoed in the pattern of its floor. A separate funerary chapel contains Diane's tomb; her remains were returned there in 2010 after their identification.
The town's cultural life also has a contemporary setting at the Dianetum. Located in Anet in Eure-et-Loir, this venue has a 470-seat auditorium and additional rooms for events. Its programme includes theatre, concerts and comedy, extending the town's artistic associations beyond the château and its Renaissance collections.
