Bocholt

Bocholt's textile heritage is presented at the LWL Textilwerk, a museum spread across two sites beside the River Aa. A bridge connects its weaving and spinning mills, situated between the town centre and Lake Aa. Demonstrations of historic looms show how cloth was produced, while a furnished workers' house and garden place industrial labour within its domestic setting. The former Herding spinning mill presents changing perspectives on textile technology, fashion and design. Together, the two sites approach the industry through machinery, working lives and the continuing uses of textiles, making industrial history a visible part of Bocholt's cultural landscape.
