Bronx, NY

The Bronx is a borough of New York City with a performing-arts scene represented by the Lehman Center on the campus of Lehman College. The centre serves audiences in the borough and surrounding communities through local, national and international presentations. Its history includes a strong emphasis on Latin music, with appearances by salsa performers and ensembles, alongside popular singers and a broader international series. Programmes have also featured Japanese taiko, Mexican folk dance, African gospel and Chinese acrobatics. This range places the Lehman Center at the intersection of neighbourhood cultural traditions and touring performance, bringing different musical and theatrical forms to Bronx audiences.
