Burlington's Flynn theatre opened on 26 November 1930, combining Art Deco design with a programme of vaudeville and motion pictures. Built by John J. Flynn and the Queen City Realty Company, it became a place for public entertainment and community gatherings. Changing habits and the spread of television contributed to later difficulties, but renewed live performance helped secure its future in the 1970s. A nonprofit organisation was established in 1980, and restoration began the following year. The theatre's development from a cinema and variety venue into a performing-arts centre reflects sustained local efforts to preserve both an architectural landmark and a space for shared cultural life.
