Cloppenburg's Museumsdorf presents rural history through buildings that once stood in different communities. Farms, workshops and mills have been transferred to the museum, where their structures preserve evidence of work and domestic life. The collection includes the eighteenth-century Wehlburg farm, the earlier Arkenstede manor house and the Bokel windmill, originally built in 1764. Other buildings introduce carpentry, agricultural labour and the organisation of nineteenth-century households. The dates of construction and relocation form separate parts of each building's story. Seen together, these places make regional history tangible through the spaces people occupied and the tools and materials around which they worked.
