Dietzenbach's historical museum approaches the town through the objects and experiences of its inhabitants. Its collections extend from prehistoric finds and Roman material to medieval evidence and the domestic and working life of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Local trades, rural households and the effects of war form parts of this account. Educational work adds another means of engaging with the collections: school groups encounter history through practical activities, while talks, readings and museum events bring different audiences into the building. The museum provides a place where the town's development can be considered through specific objects rather than broad descriptions of social change.
