Dörrebach lies by the Lehnbach on the northeastern edge of the Soonwald. Its history is closely connected with neighbouring Seibersbach, including traces of Roman water infrastructure in the area. Later religious changes also linked the two communities. The introduction of Lutheran worship in 1556 was followed by a period in which different confessions shared a church, an arrangement that eventually led to separate church building in the neighbouring settlements. The village's name is associated with a nearby stream that can run dry. Landscape and local religious history provide a more precise picture of Dörrebach than the better-known places with similar names.
