The Hristo Tsokev Art Gallery in Gabrovo opened on 5 September 1962 as part of the local museum and became an independent institution in its own building in 1974. It is named after the Gabrovo-born painter Hristo Tsokev. Its programme includes exhibitions of Bulgarian art, the Bozhentsi plein-air initiative and the Bridges triennial. Music also has a dedicated place in the building: the Professor Mincho Minchev Hall accommodates 160 listeners and is equipped with two grand pianos. Chamber concerts, conferences and meetings use this space, while other rooms serve exhibitions and smaller gatherings. The gallery combines the preservation and presentation of visual art with these public cultural activities.
