Austrian Embassy Sofia

The embassy's cultural work is run through the Austrian Cultural Forum in Sofia, which programmes across all genres with a bias towards contemporary Austrian art and, in practice, works by placing Austrian performers inside existing Bulgarian festivals rather than mounting seasons of its own. A bilateral agreement on cultural, educational, scientific and youth cooperation was signed by the two foreign ministers in February 2015. The embassy also maintains Austrian libraries in Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo, Rousse and, from December 2024, Burgas, and supports Austrian lecturers at three universities.
