A treetop walkway in the Sauwald of Upper Austria, over a kilometre of raised path through the forest canopy, with a stage set among the trees for summer performances. The walkway opened on 12 June 2005, built for about a million euros with European Union, federal and Upper Austrian money as a Leader+ project of the Sauwald regional association. It rises to fifteen metres above the forest floor and is joined by a forty-metre lookout tower giving views towards the meeting point of Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic, and by tree houses let for overnight stays. It drew 100,000 visitors in its first three months and 250,000 by August 2006. The Baumkronenweg at Kopfing im Innkreis is a treetop visitor attraction in Upper Austria's Sauwald region. The idea entered the regional development plan in 2001, and a local non-profit association was established in 2003 to realise it.
