Chitalishte Balchik

Paisiy Hilendarski Chitalishte in Balchik is a community cultural institution whose roots lie in the Bulgarian reading-society movement of the late nineteenth century. Its early predecessor was known as Saglasie–Napredak, with activity documented around 1870. The institution combines library services with amateur arts and educational activity. Its groups include the Chernomorski Zvutsi choir, a theatre collective, a vocal studio, popular-song and dance ensembles, and a ballet school. Literary and visual-arts clubs broaden its work beyond performance. Based on 21 September Square, it provides a shared setting for reading, artistic training and local cultural participation.
