A group of opera enthusiasts who wanted to make music rather than merely listen to it founded this chorus in September 1994. It took its name from the theatre Rimini had lost: Luigi Poletti's house of 1857, opened with Verdi's "Aroldo" under the composer's own direction, gutted by bombing in the Second World War and left a ruin for decades. The choir sang for years without it. Since 2004 it has mounted opera for the city's New Year's Eve celebrations with the municipality, more than twenty complete works by now, alongside a body of sacred music. Roberto Parmeggiani trained it first, Matteo Salvemini from 2005, Marcello Mancini from 2022. The rebuilt Teatro Amintore Galli finally reopened in 2018, and the chorus that had carried its name through the interval now sings on its stage.
