Coro Lirico Siciliano was established in 2008 and has been directed since its beginnings by bass Francesco Costa, with soprano Giovanna Collica responsible for artistic direction. Drawing singers from Sicily and southern Italy, it performs operatic, symphonic and sacred repertoire. Research into Sicilian music has led to performances of lesser-known works by composers including Placido Mandanici, Giovanni Pacini and Francesco Paolo Neglia. In 2012 it presented a researched version of Bellini's Zaira at Catania's Greek-Roman Theatre for the Bellini Festival. Its collaborations include the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the sacred-music festival in Monreale and theatres and orchestras outside Italy.
