Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria is the women’s folk choir subsequently known as the Vanya Moneva Choir. Founded in 1994, it developed a repertoire extending from arranged Bulgarian folk song to sacred and large-scale vocal music, jazz and screen soundtracks. Its collaborations have included work with composer Jun Miyake and a recording of the Japanese anthem heard at the closing ceremony of the Rio Olympics in 2016. The choir also contributed to John Powell’s score for Solo: A Star Wars Story and Lorne Balfe’s music for His Dark Materials. It marked its thirtieth anniversary with a concert in Sofia’s Bulgaria Hall in April 2024.
