Drama Theatre

Silistra’s theatre developed from a local theatrical society whose performances included Genoveva in the early 1870s. A professional theatre was established in 1942, building a repertoire of Bulgarian and international drama. During the later twentieth century, drama and puppetry were brought under a shared administration associated with the name Sava Dobroplodni. Following subsequent restructuring, the combined Drama and Puppet Theatre was restored in 2014. Its history connects productions for adults and children with the wider theatrical life of the town, while its stages have also accommodated visiting performers.
