Damascena, at Skobelevo in the Rose Valley beneath the Balkan range, is built around the distillation of Rosa damascena — copper stills, a museum of the trade, gardens of the oil-bearing rose — and visitors come chiefly for the harvest, which falls in the last days of May and the first of June. The wider site includes an amphitheatre, sculpture displays and spaces for family activities, and its Rose Days combine rose-picking traditions with folk music and dance. Damascena is a privately operated distillery and ethnographic visitor complex at Skobelevo in Bulgaria’s Rose Valley, between Kazanlak and Pavel Banya.
