Festival Orpheus in Wien

Festival Orpheus in Wien presents Bulgarian music and performers in Vienna, taking its name from the Thracian singer claimed by both traditions. The archive records two of its concerts in 2019. The festival is the public concert strand of the International Music Academy Orpheus Vienna, which pairs master courses with performances by its professors and selected students. Michael Frischenschlager is its president and the violinist Mario Hossen its artistic director, and it draws young players from the Danube region and from southern and central Europe. Its August programme of more than fifteen concerts is centred on the baroque Mariahilfer Kirche.
