The Festsaal in Ingolstadt is the municipal events hall within the Hämer-Bau theatre complex on Schlosslände. Separate from the theatre’s principal performance auditorium, it accommodates concerts, conferences, receptions, balls, school events and presentations. Its capacity varies with the layout, reaching approximately 1,300 people. The exposed-concrete complex dates from the 1960s and is a protected architectural monument; a model was exhibited at the 1967 world exhibition in Montreal. In its 2026 account of the building’s condition, the city retained a planned end to the Festsaal’s existing use in summer 2027, while the scope and financing of refurbishment remained under review. Ingolstadt on the Danube was a ducal seat and a university town long before it became an industrial one, and its civic buildings keep the ceremonial rooms that go with that history. A Festsaal of this kind serves the town rather than a company: receptions, prize-givings, chamber concerts, and orchestral programmes on a scale the room can hold without strain.
