Hunsrückhalle

Named for the wooded uplands it serves, the Hunsrückhalle is the multi-purpose hall of Simmern, the small district town at the centre of the Hunsrück in Rhineland-Palatinate. Buildings of this kind — one large floor, retractable seating, a stage that can be struck overnight — carry a rural region's entire public calendar. Touring concerts and operatic galas occupy it one week; exhibitions, sport, markets and civic ceremonies the next.
