History

Touring Viennese galas are a fixture of the British concert calendar: waltzes, polkas, a Strauss overture and a Radetzky March, played by ensembles convened for the tour and named for the city whose repertoire they carry. The Imperial Vienna Orchestra belongs to that tradition, appearing in regional theatres and civic halls with programmes under titles such as "Summertime in Vienna". Norwich is one stop on circuits of that kind.
