Israel Embassy

Bulgaria recognised Israel on 29 November 1948 and an Israeli embassy followed in 1952; relations were severed on 10 June 1967 and restored on 3 May 1990, and the mission in Sofia has worked continuously since. Its cultural side runs largely through joint commemorations, the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews during the Second World War among them, and through placing Israeli musicians in Bulgarian concert programmes. An orchestral concert in Sofia in December 2005 with an Israeli soloist was arranged that way.
