The Kurtheater in Bad Kissingen opened in 1905 to designs by Max Littmann, replacing an earlier wooden theatre demolished in 1904. The new building was intended to provide a theatre usable throughout the year. Its exterior combines Franconian neo-Baroque and neo-Renaissance forms, while the auditorium brings together Art Nouveau decoration and a ceiling inspired by Rococo painting. The spa administration advertises capacity for approximately 540 people. Alongside theatrical and musical performances, the building can accommodate lectures and conferences, preserving the close connection between the spa’s cultural programme and its historic public architecture.
