Lake Stage

Beside the artificial lake at Pravets, in the foothills of the Balkan range north-east of Sofia, an open-air platform has become a summer fixture. Programmes there run from Bulgarian classics to visiting soloists from abroad, and end more than once with fireworks over the water. The setting does work no auditorium can: warm evenings, the lake behind the players, and an audience that has driven out from the capital for the night.
