Loreleyblick

High on the plateau above the Rhine gorge, the village of Urbar looks straight across at the Loreley rock from the opposite bank — the view that gives this open-air site its name. It is a belvedere before it is an auditorium: an outdoor platform in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, where summer performances are staged with the river far below and the cliffs of the gorge for scenery. Verdi's Nabucco is among the operas given there.
