Municipal Choir "Ghena Dimitrova"

The Gena Dimitrova Municipal Choir in Pleven was established in 1995 following the reorganisation of the city's Hristo Brambarov Opera. It inherited the opera chorus and continued working with the Pleven Philharmonic on staged productions and tours. Slavey Tinchev was its first conductor, followed by Diana Ruseva in 2004 and Anelia Decheva in 2008. The choir adopted the soprano Gena Dimitrova's name in 2008. Its repertoire encompasses opera, sacred and Bulgarian choral music, operetta and musicals. Collaborations have included the opera companies of Ruse, Stara Zagora and Plovdiv, as well as conductors including Nayden Todorov. The Gena Dimitrova Municipal Choir of Pleven carries a voice the city gave the world, and it has twice filled out the large Verdi and Puccini canvases staged in the open air at the Summer Theatre Kaylaka: Aida on 27 June 2018, with Tsvetelina Vassileva, Dario Di Vietri and Julian Konstantinov, and Tosca on 15 June 2022, with Tanya Ivanova, Georgi Sultanov and Ventseslav Anastasov.
