The Neckarhalle in Villingen-Schwenningen opened in 2019 as a multipurpose event building. Its large hall accommodates up to 1,200 people, depending on the event configuration, and is complemented by a foyer and a separable smaller room for meetings and workshops. Concerts, fairs, celebrations and conferences share these adaptable spaces. All public rooms are accessible without steps, and designated wheelchair positions are provided when the main hall is arranged in rows. The Neckar rises in Schwenningen, in a marshy meadow a few streets from the hall that takes the river's name. Villingen-Schwenningen, made from two old and distinct towns in the eastern Black Forest, uses the Neckarhalle for the events that need floor space and seating at once: sport, civic occasions, fairs and concerts, including the touring gala programmes that travel the southern German circuit.
