Reichenbach im Vogtland gave the German stage Friederike Caroline Neuber, the actress-manager who drove the harlequin out of serious theatre in the 1730s, and the town's theatre carries her name. The Neuberinhaus serves Reichenbach as playhouse and concert room together; the Vogtland Philharmonie Greiz/Reichenbach plays there, so that a building named for a reformer of the spoken drama has become, for much of the year, an orchestral hall.
