Neubrandenburger Philharmonie

Mecklenburg supports two theatres and one orchestra between them, and the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie is that orchestra — the symphonic ensemble of the company shared by Neubrandenburg and Neustrelitz, playing subscription concerts in the one town and opera and operetta in the other. Its Neubrandenburg home is the Konzertkirche, a brick-Gothic church left roofless by the war and rebuilt late in the twentieth century as a concert hall, its Gothic shell now enclosing a modern auditorium. The orchestra's seasons run to the standard central European repertoire, with Baltic and Slavonic music given more room than is usual further west.
