Constanța's opera and ballet company, on the Black Sea coast, carries the name of Oleg Danovski, the choreographer who did more than anyone to give Romanian ballet a home outside Bucharest and who made this port city that home. Opera and dance share the theatre, the orchestra and the season. Gala concerts drawing on both sides of the company are a regular feature of its programming, and it remains the principal lyric theatre of the Romanian coast.
