Open Air Stage, Old Town of Plovdiv

Cobbled and steep, the Old Town of Plovdiv climbs three hills lined with the painted merchant houses of the Bulgarian Revival, and music has long been made in its courtyards and on its terraces. The open-air stage there has carried programmes as intimate as Mozart's serenade K. 525, Eine kleine Nachtmusik, whose scale suits a summer evening among old walls better than any large hall could.
