Pfarrkirche St.Nikolaus

A Catholic parish church in Brüggen, a small town on the Lower Rhine close to the Dutch border, St Nikolaus serves its congregation first and music second — though, like many Rhineland churches, it lends its nave to concerts when the parish calendar allows. Sacred programmes and opera given in concert form have both been heard under its vaults. An acoustic of this kind rewards voices and organ more generously than it rewards large orchestral forces.
