Pian di Nave

Sanremo's waterfront opens at Pian di Nave into a broad public space beside the old harbour, given over through the summer to open-air concerts and civic events. In a town whose name is bound up with song — the Italian song festival, the Teatro Ariston, a resident symphony orchestra — an outdoor stage by the sea does steady work in July and August. Operatic overtures and light orchestral programmes suit it; Cimarosa's overture to Il matrimonio segreto has been heard there.
