The Tettuccio is the grandest of Montecatini's bath houses, a colonnaded establishment set in the thermal park, and the open ground before it has long served the spa town's outdoor season. Visitors came for the waters and stayed for the music; the summer programme of concerts and staged opera is an inheritance from the resort's belle époque prime, when orchestras were part of the cure. Bizet's Carmen has been performed on this ground.
