Pim Pam is a Bulgarian children’s choir founded in 1979 by the composer Boris Karadimchev. Its beginnings are linked to the Golden Orpheus festival, where a group of children performed with Mihail Belchev in Karadimchev’s song honouring Bulgaria’s first cosmonaut. The ensemble developed a repertoire of original songs and arrangements, issuing recordings including Otnovo e Koleda and Zlatnite hitove na XX-ti vek. Its training combines singing with theatrical movement and stage presentation, extending the children’s preparation beyond vocal technique. Pim Pam is a children's choir based in Sofia, one of a number of such ensembles that give Bulgarian children a first professional stage and supply the capital's orchestras with the treble lines their repertoire requires. Its appearances range from festive symphonic programmes to lighter fare, including arrangements of the Beatles. Bulgarian choral schooling has always started early, and choirs like this one are where it starts.
