The Regional History Museum in Yambol grew from local collecting and archaeological societies, with an early school collection established in 1886 through Petar Noykov’s initiative. It became an institution in 1952 with the appointment of Veneta Dacheva and opened publicly on 2 June 1953. Its collections cover archaeology, ethnography and the region’s later history. Excavations at ancient Kabyle and the prehistoric settlement mound near Drama have contributed to its holdings and research. The museum also publishes studies and organises exhibitions on Yambol and its surroundings. Yambol's regional museum keeps the material history of the middle Tundzha — prehistoric, Thracian, Roman and Ottoman — including finds from Kabyle, the Thracian and later Roman city a few kilometres upstream. Museums of this kind in Bulgaria double as small concert rooms, and recitals are given among the cases; a solo evening by the soprano Alexandrina Pendatchanska has been among them.
