Wilhelm Neveling's design for Koblenz, opened on 29 December 1962, is a four-storey reinforced-concrete cube behind a suspended façade — post-war modernism of the confident kind. Its finest fitting is musical: an organ of seventy-one registers built by Emanuel Kemper in 1963, dismantled and reinstalled between 2010 and 2014 when the hall itself was rebuilt. That refurbishment followed the 2011 federal garden show, cost some thirty-two million euros, and the hall reopened on 26 September 2012 with 1,036 seats in the main auditorium and sixteen smaller rooms around it.
