Society "Erevan"

The Erevan Society is the Armenian cultural association in Plovdiv, one of the oldest Armenian communities in Bulgaria. It has run concerts and cultural evenings in the city; the archive records one from 1991. The Erevan organisation was set up in 1944 as a cultural and educational body for the Armenians of Plovdiv and in its early decades worked under state control. It was housed in the Armenian National Home, which also gave room to theatre work. After 1990 it stood alongside a revival of older Armenian associations in the city, among them Hamazkain, Homenetmen and Parekordzagan.
