The OsnabrückHalle stands on Schlosswall beside Osnabrück's Baroque palace and park. Formerly known as the Stadthalle, the complex combines two halls and ten additional rooms across approximately 5,000 square metres of event space. It accommodates concerts, shows, conferences, exhibitions and balls, with layouts adapted to seated or standing audiences. A comprehensive renovation and modernisation was completed in 2016, renewing its technical facilities, energy performance and public appearance. The venue is operated by Marketing Osnabrück, which also coordinates wider cultural and city-marketing activity. Osnabrück's municipal hall opened on 12 January 1979 in the garden of the town's Schloss, replacing a Stadthalle of 1901 that bombs destroyed in September 1944; some 50,000 people looked round during the four opening days. The Europa-Saal, the largest room, seats 1,800 including the gallery and takes 3,350 standing. An extension of 1996-98 added the Kongress-Saal, the building was renamed OsnabrückHalle in 2008, and a thorough refurbishment followed from 2013; the city's marketing company runs it.
