Teatro de Yucatan

Yucatán's concert life is concentrated in Mérida, the state capital, where the Orquesta Sinfónica de Yucatán gives its season and where the peninsula's audience for orchestral music and opera gathers. The theatre recorded under this name is that platform — a house carrying symphonic programmes, opera and ballet in a region a long way from the concert circuits of central Mexico. Its public is local and loyal, and the orchestra's calendar sets the rhythm of the musical year.
