A stage designer born in the town gave this house its name. Teo Otto, whose sets served the Zurich Schauspielhaus through the war years and the first Brecht productions staged there, was honoured in September 2001 when Remscheid renamed its theatre after him. The building dates from 1954, to designs by the Düsseldorf architect Ernst Huhn, and seats around 620; the city placed it under heritage protection in 2000 and completed a full refurbishment in 2003. No company is resident. Drama, opera and musicals arrive on tour, and the Bergische Symphoniker, the orchestra shared with neighbouring Solingen, give their concerts on this stage.
