Théâtre André Malraux

The Théâtre André Malraux in Rueil-Malmaison presents a multidisciplinary programme of theatre, music and dance. Its public season is complemented by performances for schools, placing educational work alongside appearances by visiting actors, singers, dancers and instrumentalists. The venue also accommodates association galas and other local gatherings. This combination of touring performance and community use gives the theatre a role both in the town’s artistic programme and in its wider civic life. The name belongs to the novelist who became France's first minister of cultural affairs, and the policy he set in motion — a serious stage within reach of every town — is what a theatre like this one exists to carry out. Rueil-Malmaison, west of Paris and known chiefly for the château where Joséphine Bonaparte kept her roses, uses it for drama, dance, orchestral concerts and opera on tour.
