Where Caillebotte painted his family's park, its bathers and its kitchen garden, the commune of Yerres now keeps a public theatre. It lies in the Essonne, on the small river that gives the town its name, and works as a municipal stage — drama, dance, concerts, opera galas, programmes for children — for a place whose chief monument is a nineteenth-century property still open to visitors. The Théâtre de Yerres occupies the performance auditorium of the CEC, a cultural complex inaugurated in May 2012 on Rue Marc Sangnier. Part of the Val d’Yerres Val de Seine network, it presents theatre, dance and concerts in a 955-seat auditorium with a 276-square-metre stage.
