The Théâtre de Vevey opened on 28 October 1868, bringing a permanent home for theatre and music to the lakeside town. Following a major renovation, the municipality established the Fondation des Arts et Spectacles de Vevey in 1992 to manage the theatre and other cultural venues. Renamed Le Reflet in 2014, the seven-hundred-seat house presents classical and contemporary theatre within a broader performing-arts programme. It also supports productions from French-speaking Switzerland through co-production and develops access initiatives for schools and audiences with disabilities. A company of 183 subscribers put up 367 shares of a hundred francs in 1862 to give Vevey a proper hall for concerts and plays; after four years of failed searches for a site, ground was bought in May 1866 with heavy financial backing from the town itself. The competition went to the local architect Samuel Késer-Doret and excavation began in January 1867. The house has 700 seats and works today under the name Le Reflet.
