Vodna Kaskada, Vazrazhdane Square

Pleven's water cascade descends in stone terraces through the centre of the town, and the square beside it becomes an open-air auditorium in the summer months. Among the events held there are the laureates' concerts of the international competition for young opera singers named after Ghena Dimitrova, who grew up in the Pleven district before the Italian repertory took her to the major houses. Young voices sing them out over water and stone, without the help of a theatre.
