Yambol Municipality

Set on the Tundzha in south-eastern Bulgaria, Yambol is an old market town whose most striking building is the Bezisten, a fifteenth-century Ottoman covered market restored and returned to use for exhibitions and public events. The municipality is the local authority for the town and the villages around it, and among its responsibilities is the town's concert calendar: it commissions, funds and hosts visiting orchestras and staged productions rather than maintaining a permanent ensemble of its own. Vivaldi's The Four Seasons has been among the programmes brought to Yambol audiences this way.
