Baritone
Biography
Warsaw gave Adam Kruszewski his birth, in 1958, and his training — lessons with Bogna Sokorska, a period in Vienna with Pavel Lisitsian, and a diploma from the Academy of Music under Edmund Kossowski in 1985. Competition successes followed in quick succession: 's-Hertogenbosch in 1987, the Kiepura Grand Prix at Krynica in 1988, Rio de Janeiro in 1989. From 1993 he has been a fixture of the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw, singing Don Giovanni and Rossini's Figaro, with roles in the Polish repertoire including Miecznik in Moniuszko's The Haunted Manor, and the title role of Szymanowski's King Roger, which he sang at Bard SummerScape in 2008. Oratorio and recording have run alongside the stage throughout. He had joined the Warsaw Chamber Opera in 1985, making his debut there as Malatesta in Don Pasquale, and Nantes belongs with his other competition prizes. Count Almaviva and Iago in Otello stand beside the Mozart and Rossini roles.
