Alexander Nosikov

A bassoonist first, Alexander Nosikov studied classical singing beside the instrument at the Pleven music school, graduating in 1999 and joining the Konstantin Kisimov music and drama theatre in Veliko Tarnovo the same year, where he made his operatic debut as Don Basilio. Born in Pleven in 1980, he became associated with the Sofia Opera, where his bass roles have included Prince Gremin and Fasolt along with much of the Russian and Italian repertoire, and he has sung with Opera Plovdiv and State Opera Stara Zagora. International galas and master classes associated with Raina Kabaivanska and Fiorenza Cossotto belong to the same years. He went on to study at the National Academy of Music in Sofia and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, and held a scholarship from Raina Kabaivanska as her student. His Sofia Opera debut came in 2006 as Haly in L'italiana in Algeri, and sacred, concert and chamber music stand beside the stage roles.
