Biography
Pace founded Blonde Redhead in New York in 1993 with his twin brother Simone and Kazu Makino, and has been the band's guitarist and one of its two singers ever since — from the first two albums, issued on Steve Shelley's Smells Like Records, with the debut produced by Shelley, through Misery Is a Butterfly (2004), 23 (2007), Barragán (2014) and Sit Down for Dinner (2023). He was born in Milan and writes and arranges a large part of the band's material. Blonde Redhead scored the documentary The Dungeon Masters and the film The Commentator; with his brother he wrote music for a Jørgen Leth film shown at the Bicycle Film Festival, and in 2017 he took part in Cinema 16, a programme of experimental films with an original score played live. In 2016 the band performed Misery Is a Butterfly in new string arrangements with the American Contemporary Music Ensemble. The Leth film whose screening he and his brother scored was A Sunday in Hell.
