Mezzo-soprano
Biography
Ana Victoria Pitts sang Dido in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. She was born in Belém and trained at the Conservatório Carlos Gomes there. A scholarship carried her to Italy, where she graduated from the Conservatory of Rovigo and joined the academy of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, working through repertoire from Mozart and Rossini to Ullmann. Italian, French and German theatres have since heard her as Isabella, Tisbe, Flora, Frugola, Zita and the Princess in Suor Angelica, and she has taken part in opera recordings. The Rovigo diploma came in 2014 and the Florentine academy occupied the years from 2015 to 2017, after which she studied with Raina Kabaivanska in Modena. Rossini productions at Bad Wildbad, Respighi's La bella dormente nel bosco in Lyon and appearances at the Festival della Valle d'Itria followed, and in 2019 she sang Azucena in Sofia and Amneris at the Ravenna Festival.
