Biography
Between 2006 and 2008 Anna Gemedjieva appeared in Lucia di Lammermoor, Le nozze di Figaro and Die Zauberflöte. Her stage work of those years ran between Bulgaria — Rousse and Varna — and Winterthur in Switzerland. In March 2006 she was heard with Sofia Opera in Rossini's L'italiana in Algeri and in a staged Carmina Burana, and the Queen of the Night's arias belong to her documented repertoire. She began the violin at six, studied at the Dobrin Petkov music school in Plovdiv from 1987 to 1995, then music pedagogy and violin at the Plovdiv academy of music from 1995 to 1997 and from 1998 music pedagogy and musical aesthetics at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia. Her singing began privately with Valeri Popova and Mihail Angelov; in 2001 she entered the vocal faculty of the National Academy of Music in the class of Velizara Karayankova and took her master's degree there in 2006, continuing the same year as a scholarship student at the university in Graz. She has worked in masterclasses with Montserrat Caballe, Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Raina Kabaivanska, Helga Mueller-Molinari and Gabriele Lechner, and teaches operatic singing, appearing as Ana Gemedjieva-Kirova.
